There is no better group of soccer fans in America than the Timbers’ Army in Portland. From Timber Joey sawing off a log after each goal, to the endless singing and partying in the Army’s section at Providence Park, the supporters of the Portland Timbers go hard each and every game. So it was only fitting that in celebration of the club’s 40th anniversary this past weekend, the Army raised a 40 oz beer tifo that said, “Cheers to Forty – World Class.” Solid, solid work from our favorite Major League Soccer supporters’ group. Actually, there were terrific tifos all around the league in the opening weekend of the 2015 campaign (as you’ll see in the 2nd video below) and the fans showed up in droves as there were over 60,000 on hand to watch Orlando City and New York City FC play their first ever MLS game and 40,000 people showed up in Seattle at Century Link to watch the Sounders beat the Revolution.
