BLS Water Cooler Cram Session 7/18/14

Updated: July 18, 2014

Who wants to watch an hour of the Mothership and their 1,500 different analysts break down the same game over and over again? We sure don’t (Unless Original #BuschBabe and BLS Favorite Jaymee Sire is anchoring). Here’s what you may have missed in the sports world yesterday.

Levi’s Stadium Opens

The San Francisco 49ers opened their brand new $1.2 billion dollar stadium yesterday, with a ribbon cutting ceremony full of pomp and circumstance. The 49ers claim it is the most technologically advanced stadium in the league. It is full of wow factors, most notably 2 massive HD video boards at either end of the stadium. There are also broad concourses, enormous club areas, glassed-in luxury suites, big screens everywhere and a high end restaurant. It has all the bells and whistles that all new stadiums have. There are still some concerns though, as Thursday’s ceremony was routinely interrupted by deafening plane noise (a regular occurrence at the 49ers’ training facility) and promises to divert flight paths during 49ers’ games were met with general skepticism, given the airport’s longtime history of neighborhood complaints. Roger Goodell was in attendance and added a twist to the ceremony by addressing the looming stadium issue just up the road in Oakland, California, where the Raiders have long been searching for a replacement to the outdated Coliseum. Goodell said it’s up to the Raiders to decide whether they want to try to build a stadium in Oakland or share the facility at Levi’s Stadium with the 49ers, an idea Niners’ CEO Jed York never has dismissed. Raiders owner Mark Davis has said he doesn’t want to be a renter in the 49ers’ facility, which is now fitted with red seats and posters of past and present San Francisco greats. The stadium looks to be awesome but the drawback is the price of seats, seat licenses, and season tickets. Most of the longtime 49er fans from Kezar and Candlestick have been priced out of this new facility and we suspect the stands will be filled with corporate tech people from the Silicon Valley who don’t know whether it’s “blown up or stuffed.”

The Open Championship (Royal Liverpool Golf Club)

Rory rules again in Round 2.

Rory rules again in Round 2.

Rory McIlroy backed up his 1st round 66 with another stellar trip around Royal Liverpool on Friday. The Northern Irishman fired his 2nd straight 6-under 66, to lead by 4 stroked over American, Dustin Johnson, who shot the best round of the day on Friday – a 7-under 65. Tiger Woods struggled in the 2nd round and didn’t make his 1st birdie until the 18th hole but it was enough to get him to the weekend on the number at (+2) over the first 2 rounds at Hoylake. Defending champion Phil Mickelson shot 2-under on the day and is at level par for the tournament, but everyone is chasing Rory who has made 13 birdies and just 1 bogey over the first 2 days at The Open Championship.

We return to baseball tonight as the All-Star break has come to an end. Nothing to report on the MLB today, but we hope you saw the photos we brought you yesterday of Kate Upton and Justin Verlander vacationing in Cancun over the break.

  • The 49ers announced left tackle Joe Staley has signed a 2-year contract extension that will run through the 2019 season.
  • The 2015 NFL draft will take place in Chicago or Los Angeles, commissioner Roger Goodell said Thursday. Radio City Music Hall, the usual host venue in New York, could not offer available dates in April or May, Goodell said. The 2015 draft is expected to take place either April 22-25 or April 29-May 2.

Just like when we counted down to the World Cup, BLS is counting down the days to the start of the NFL season by bringing you some of the best wives and girlfriends of NFL players past and present. Kim Kardashian’s Instagram Photographer/Photoshopper

Does Kim Kardashian have her own personal Instagram photographer that she keeps on a leash to capture her best looks? It sure seems like it. This person may also be the one who has been photoshopping some of Kim’s photos for Throwback Thursdays (#TBT), as Perez Hilton has caught Kim red-handed enhancing photos from the past: You can clearly see that she; made her butt more perky, removed a little wispy hair, also made her boobs more perky, made her waistline smaller, removed the zipper from the dress, made her nose smaller, removed a barely noticeable bruise from her leg in the Instagram pic!

The photoshopped #TBT Pic. Nice work Perez!

Kim is currently enjoying a few days of tanning in Mexico with the pregnant girlfriend of Girls Gone Wild creator Joe Francis. Kim in fact often holidays at Joe’s beachfront property south of the border. While working on her tan, Kim went topless for a sunbathing session on Wednesday, and then shared the photo of her scantily clad self on Thursday. We just want to know who was instructed to take these shots and how long it took that person to go edit them on photoshop. More tackiness from the Kardashian squad – nobody’s surprised. Here are the 2 photos Kim posted on her Instagram yesterday, she captioned the first photo: #OurLovelyLadyLumps.

Naked Rowing – A No No For Facebook

Why is Mark Zuckerberg such a prude? He continues to try to play god and tell us what we can and can’t see on the largest social media site in the world. A college rowing club in England has been banned from Facebook after their nude charity calendar was branded as pornography. Students from the University of Warwick Rowing Society undressed for the shoot, which sold 1,500 copies, and raised thousands of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The 17 team mates posed naked in their boat house and in action on the River Avon and then posted the pictures on both Facebook and Twitter. The group’s aim was to drum up more support from fans around the world and top their £3,400 total raised from last year. Reports say the girls are pretty upset that Facebook removed their page “Warwick Rowing’s Women’s Naked Calendar” for its “explicitly sexual content”. Bullshit like this is why Twitter will always be a far better platform than Facebook. Are these shots full of “explicitly sexual content”? You be the judge. And it’s for charity, for the love of god Zuckernerd!

Naked row 1

Not gonna get away with Porn like this ladies.

Naked row 2

Zuckerberg would probably let this slide, if they boosted their post for $15.

Naked Row 3

Obviously an explicit lesbian scene.

Naked Row 4

Facebook checked them in at the Boat (Whore) House.

Naked Row 5

All we see is top-notch form here.

Happy Birthday Kara Chizever!

We have another Busch League Family birthday today!!! Happy birthday Kara Chizever! We Love you! Don’t forget to take time out of your busy schedule to practice your field goal kicking! Most of us here at Busch League Nation know that Kara (who is a tremendous athlete) can easily nail a 20 yard field goal. There’s really only one naysayer amongst us and he just so happens to be the person sitting to the right of Kara in the photo below (her husband Peter). Poor Peter grew up in SoCal and wasn’t around when Kara was dominating soccer fields, volleyball & basketball courts and swimming pools. He’s about to get a rude awaking when we settle this bet in the coming weeks. BLS has even lined up some professional instruction (not that she needs it) to ensure the ball goes through the uprights. There’s a tease for you Busch Leaguers. The production is in the works and we’ll bring you the footage when it all goes down, but for now – enjoy your day Kara!

Far left will have to pay up once she nails the FG.
